If you’re cycling along and feel like your panniers are too heavy so stop and eat a load of food, does this food now in your body mean your overall weight is just the same?

Said I’d have a second dinner and think it over cause I’m not too good at jumping into decisions. I brought half a bag of pasta with me and 3 eggs which I was planning on getting rid of that night to lighten the load. Boiled the pasta at 11.30 and all 3 eggs so I’d have one now and the others whenever I needed them. Asked Johnny if he had any sauce. I had a choice of beans, cheese, ham and Caesar dressing. ‘A bit of Caesar and beans will be lovely with that.’ Went with pasta, an egg, beans and cheese. Was it nice? I don’t know or care, it was much needed energy.

Tickets had been £23.50 when I looked at them. Refreshed the page and they had gone up to £45. It had just gone midnight so they bumped up the prices. Damn it! Cycling across the country the last thing I needed was bad luck. £45 was a lot to ask. Then another brain wave from Johnny. Buy a ticket for the following day and say I made a mistake. There’s no barriers at Hook, if I managed to avoid getting my tickets checked on the train and then when I get to Exeter there might be a guy who opens the door for people with bikes and I could just wave him my ticket and hope he doesn’t look too hard at it. It was 12.07am, I couldn’t be paying double for the sake of 7 minutes. Fuck it, if they catch me I’ll just get the train to London, I’m not that arsed anymore anyway. Booked a ticket for the 2nd but I’d have to print it out at the station. Train leaves at 7.19, should cycle to the station in 10 minutes tops, can eat a bowl of weetabix in one minute flat, my pannier was packed up and back on the bike so I couldn’t go wrong. I had a big rain poncho that I left in Johnny’s house cause it was too cold to rain and also left my cycling shades cause it wasn’t looking too sunny either. Also I hoped eating all that pasta and an egg would lighten the load a bit.
