Start of yellow road to okehampton 21.1 miles/ 34k
It’s true, an Irish winter goes from November to January while the English winter runs from December to February. We’d had a fairly mild winter so far so they decided to dump all the bad weather into the first week of February to make up for it.
I cruised along nicely for a while, not much in the 30’s like yesterday but at a nice pace. Did about 10k, blew my nose a few hundred times and then got thinking about my hands. Yesterday’s fabric tips were an absolute disaster making my fingers cold after about 20 minutes and taking almost as long to get out of the gloves. But just when you thought I couldn’t get any more dumber I do something like this….and totally redeem myself. The clingertips (registered TM) were working a treat. They were making me sweat just a little bit and creating a mini bath for my fingers. Great success! Then disaster struck. Came to a turn in the road and needed to check my directions. Didn’t want to take my hand out and risk upsetting the cling film so I tried to operate the screen with my nose. It worked but I couldn’t connect all the dots to unlock it. Settled on just taking my right thumb out which worked fine. The socks weren’t doing too well though. It just doesn’t make sense- extra socks like extra gloves just don’t work. Unless you’re in The Rockies.
