Who needs a radio?

Thursday morning, 9am, good morning Launceston! Get my phone out, quick look at the weather. Minus 4, perfect! But it feels like minus 9. What does that even mean? How do they print that vague information?
‘What’s it feel like out there Michael?’
‘Ah I’d say minus 9.’
‘Right you are, I’ll put it down. You weren’t far off this time.’
Every hour it was due to warm up a degree so I took my sweet time leaving but I knew today I’d have to take the next step and cling film my toes. The room was freezing so it was going to take a lot of effort to change down into shorts today but as I was packing I put on some music for the first time on the trip to help me through it. Hip hop always works well for motivation. But then my mood started to drop again, Coldplay had squeezed into the mix. The Scientist, oh God no!
Nobody said it was easy.
Nobody said it would be this hard.
Oh take me back to the start.
Yeah I probably would go back to the start without too much convincing. This song is going to kill me, I need to change it fast. But it was too late; I was on the jacks and had to sit through it. Then it was time to make a switch to Ice Cube. Right away I was feeling good again, today was going to be a good day. Getting the right song in your head before a long bit of exercise can make such a difference. I ran a marathon with Velouria by The Pixies in my head THE WHOLE WAY and it did absolutely nothing for me. Getting one of my favourite songs in there for today’s trip though would see me through the hard times.
